Hello! My name is Siddharth Moghe, I am a 3rd year Environmental Economics and Policy major. I was raised in Portland, Oregon and enjoy nature and coffee. I was drawn to this class as I want to understand how patents and innovation are linked, and whether patents ultimately spur or cripple innovative ideas. Furthermore, I am interested to see how the open source software movement is affecting or changing attitudes towards patents. I also have a passion for startups, and have worked as an intern for startups in the air quality, and crowdfunding industries.
Furthermore, I competed in an IEOR 185 challenge in the past, and pitched a startup idea around crowdfunding low-interest student loans to the potential VC judges. After participating in such experiences, I gained an interest in how startups can use patents to validate an idea or use patents as a tool to attain a competitive advantage in the industry.
On campus, I am involved in a consulting club called BEACN which focuses on providing business consulting services for environmentally or socially responsible clients, and I have an interest in renewable energy technologies.
Looking forward to a great semester!
Siddharth (Sid) Moghe
